Designed by noted amp builder James Brown, the 100W Double Cross boldly redefines high-gain guitar amplification with a broad spectrum of stunning tones and user-modified features.

The Double Cross amp head has three distinctively voiced channels: Rhythm, Lead I and Lead II. Each Lead channel can be modified by users via four separate function switches which are located at the four end points of a cross design on the control panel. These switches are not simply EQ parameters; each uniquely blends additional 12AX7 tube stages, letting players actually alter the Gain/EQ/Attack structure of their preamps modifications usually not offered to consumers unless they take their amplifier to a knowledgeable technician to be permanently "modded."

The two Lead channels are voiced differently, with Lead I catering to a modern, heavy tone and Lead II crafted for a more traditional, high-gain "cranked amp" lead tone.

The four switches on each Cross are:
(1) Bright: alters the tone to enhance high-end response and tighten the low-end
(2) Gain: boosts the preamp gain
(3) Tight Stage: adds chunky, vintage-style gain like a classic amp when fully cranked
(4) Thick Stage: offers rich, aggressive tonal qualities with complex harmonic content.
These four functions may be activated, omitted and blended in any combination to create a fantastically wide choice of tones.

Adding more gain usually causes so much compression that you lose dynamics and note definition. Although the Double Cross offers tremendous amounts of gain and distortion, it adds the extra tubes in a way that doesn't change your dynamics or sacrifice the touch sensitivity, regardless of the amp's settings.

All three channels of the Double Cross provide separate Gain & Volume controls a standard Kustom feature as well as independent Bass, Middle, Treble and Presence controls. There is also a global Master Volume and a Boost Volume control that can be activated with the Double Cross's 5-function metal footswitch (included).

A speaker cabinet-emulated Direct Out, drawn from Kustom's Coupe 1/2 Series amplifiers, has evolved to offer two signal options: (1) the tonal coloration provided by a Slant-style 4x12 cabinet or (2) The distinct sound of a straight-style 4x12. The rich, punchy tone of Kustom's D.I. signal is revered by professional musicians and is now even better.

A backline beauty!

The top, bottom and 2 sides of a Coupe 412 speaker cabinet are cut from a single sheet of virtually void-free Baltic Birch plywood, recognized for its rich, "woody" tonal qualities. Kustom has found that cutting the cabinet's entire 15mm frame from a single sheet of birch enhances the overall resonance because each piece has similar structural characteristics and density patterns. Accordingly, the individual pieces of wood resonate together, creating stronger fundamental tones with naturally enhanced harmonics. Furthermore, using modern CNC machines that are Computer Indexed results in incredible accuracy when cutting the wood. Once assembled, the pieces fit together perfectly, with tighter glue joints, for increased strength.

Taking this concept even further, a Straight-front Coupe 412 cabinet features a one-piece Baltic Birch Baffle Board. The Baffle itself is thinner than the cabinet's shell, measuring 12mm thick. Testing at Kustom has shown that a somewhat thinner Baffle contributes desirable resonance to the overall sound, creating more lively, less rigid, tonal qualities.

Naturally, the Coupe 412 with the classic Slant front is built from two pieces of virtually void-free Baltic Birch, as is necessary with the Slant-type design. Again, thickness is 12mm for responsive performance.

Coupe 412 speaker cabinets all use 12" Celestion Vintage 30 speakers, a favorite of professional guitarists around the world. These premium speakers deliver rich, full-bodied tone with great definition and sustain you'll quickly hear why they have earned a reputation for excellence. Overall power handling is rated at 240W.

Coupe 412 cabinets are wired for Mono or Stereo operation that is selectable using a switch on the back. When using a cabinet in the traditional mono mode, the four speakers are rated at 16 ohms. In Stereo mode, 2 speakers function for the left side and 2 speakers function for the right side with a total impedance of 8 ohms per side.

The Kustom '72 Coupe combo amp dishes out 72 watts of complex, harmonically rich tube tone that reacts to your most subtle playing techniques. And when you need more presence, it's there. Technically speaking, the '72 Coupe runs on four 6L6 power tubes with a 12AX7 preamp. Furthermore, it uses a self-biased power amp design in tandem with a secondary, partially fixed-bias technique. Kustom Amplification expands on the success of its all-tube Coupe Series guitar amplifiers with the introduction of the '72 Coupe Hardtop, a new amp with the award-winning tone, features and distinctive "tuck n' roll" look of the company's '72 Coupe combo models, but in a head format.

The Hardtop, which is built in the USA using U.S. and imported parts, is an all-tube, '72 w head designed by Kustom's Chief Engineer, James Brown. Using four 6L6 output tubes and four 12AX7 preamp tubes from Electro-Harmonix, the Hardtop is a two-channel, Dual Master Volume design that lets players get sweet, harmonically rich distortion from either channel at any volume level. The Kustom HV100 tube/hybrid combo amplifier has 2 channels, each with gain and master volume controls. This Dual Master system lets players easily get natural tube overdrive and compression on the rhythm channel as well as the lead channel, for even more tonal options. The amp's EQ consists of passive bass, middle and treble controls that have the same specifications as Kustom's award-winning, all-tube Coupe amplifiers. The HV100's speaker-emulated direct out and variable volume boost controls are also borrowed from the Coupe.

An all new 24-bit digital multi-effects system has been created exclusively for the Kustom HV. It offers 16 high-fidelity, programmable effects with increased flexibility thanks to "Tap" or "Toggle" functions for each effect, letting players fine tune their choices. For example, Delay times, Reverb tails and Tremolo speeds can all be tapped to desired settings. Alternately, the Spring Reverb effect can be toggled between three different tonal selections reminiscent of the Coupe reverb; the Rotary Speaker can be ramped between speeds; and the Octave selection can be toggled to choose Octave Up or Octave Down. The Defender from Kustom provides an intoxicating blend of hot tube amp tones and never-before-seen features. To maximize the amp's classic tone, The Defender is built of solid Pine and uses a Plywood Baffle Board. All-Pine construction gives the amplifier a rich, resonant tone that will inspire any lover of historic tube amps. The cabinet is covered in high-quality black Tolex with a raised stitching pattern, similar to a motorcycle seat.

An exclusive preamp operates unlike any other. Called Duo-Mod, the proprietary Kustom circuit uses traditional Volume and Master Volume controls, but that's where the similarity ends.

Here's how it works: When turning the Defender's Volume control down to get cleaner tones, the Duo-Mod circuit progressively reduces gain in multiple locations throughout the preamp. The result is stunning clarity throughout the Gain control's entire range. In other words, clean tones get cleaner and medium-gain tones stay chunkier and dynamic, while not sacrificing their higher-gain potential.

In the medium-to-high gain ranges, the Kustom Duo-Mod circuit progressively adds gain in multiple locations throughout the preamp. The result is smoking hot rock tones with punch and clarity that set it apart. In essence, the Kustom Duo-Mod circuit produces a wide variety of tones from a deceptively simple one-channel amplifier without the need for additional gain switches or controls.

The Defender's Master Volume doesn't merely control the overall amplifier level. The guitar amp also optimizes the amp's overall EQ to produce perfectly tweaked tonal results no matter how the input Volume and Master Volume controls are set. For example, when the input Volume is cranked for distortion and the Master is set lower, the amp's midrange and high-end are adjusted to eliminate any harshness. This system lets players make large changes in gain settings with minimal adjustments of tone controls.

For added flexibility, the Defender amp also has a Master Volume Bypass switch, which lets players entirely disable the Master from the circuit to achieve the penetrating tone and headroom of vintage, non-Master type amplifiers. It's perfect for players who like to use outboard overdrive and distortion boxes to spice up their sound. For even more power amp gain, a variable Power Amp Boost control provides up to 10db of footswitchable volume that is perfect for making guitar solos stand out in the mix.

The Kustom HV65 tube/hybrid 1x12 combo amplifier has two channels, each with Gain and Master Volume controls. This Dual Master system lets players easily get natural tube overdrive and compression on the Rhythm channel as well as the Lead channel, for even more tonal options. The HV EQ consists of passive Bass, Middle and Treble controls that are the same specifications as Kustom's award-winning, all-tube Coupe amplifiers. The HV65's speaker-emulated Direct Out and variable Volume Boost controls are also borrowed from the Coupe.

An all-new 24-Bit Digital Multi-Effects System has been created exclusively for the HV. It offers 16 high fidelity, programmable effects with increased flexibility thanks to "Tap" or "Toggle" functions for each effect, letting players fine-tune their choices. For example, Delay times, Reverb tails and Tremolo speeds can all be tapped to desired settings. Alternately, the Spring Reverb effect can be toggled between three different tonal selections reminiscent of the Coupe reverb; the Rotary Speaker can be ramped between speeds; and the Octave selection can be toggled to choose Octave Up or Octave Down. In all, the new HV65 Multi-Effects system provides stunning effects with unsurpassed flexibility, but without undue complexity.

New cabinet construction methods have been developed to enhance the resonance and musicality of the HV65 amplifier. In addition to crafting the cabinet to flex in response to the sound pressure, the electronic chassis is mounted in a way that doesn't impede the ability of the cabinet to resonate properly, an often overlooked element in the production of good tone.

The powerful Kustom HV65 combines 65 watts and one 12-inch Celestion. Visually, the HV65 sports vents on the top panel and a cool, rear-panel cutaway with mesh screen to view the preamp tube inside the chassis. Other details include new die-cast Kustom logos, jet-black grill cloth, white piping and black leather handles.

The Kustom HV65 Combo utilizes an exclusive new preamp circuit developed by James Brown, acclaimed amplifier designer and Kustom's chief engineer. The HV Series' preamp combines a 12AX7 tube - known for its robust tonal qualities - with solid-state circuitry known for its consistency and reliability.
