An unbelievably detailed recreation of a legendary Fender instrument.

Over the course of his 40-year career, Jeff Beck has attained heights of guitar greatness seldom if ever equaled, and he has long been regarded as one of the finest and most distinctive voices of the electric guitar, period. The Fender Custom Shop is very proud indeed then to introduce a very special 150-instrument run of the Tribute Series Jeff Beck Esquire Relic guitar, exquisitely and meticulously modeled after Beck's famous Blonde '54 Esquire.

This exact reproduction duplicates the original guitar's light weight, unusual body contours, dings and wear patterns, soft V-shaped '57 one-piece maple neck, chipped black pickguard and brass bridge saddles (with which Beck had replaced the original steel saddles soon after buying the guitar for $60 from its original owner, Walker Brothers guitarist John Maus).

Legendary Fender "pickup artist" Abigail Ybarra carefully recreated the single '51 "Nocaster" single-coil bridge pickup, and the guitar's amazing authenticity extends even to the control wiring, 1056 serial number, and even a cosmetically aged vintage-style guitar strap. Beck himself, in fact, was almost fooled when our reproduction arrived at his door, thinking on first opening the case that he'd gotten his original guitar back!

The guitar comes in a vintage tweed case, and includes a DVD interview with Beck, 8x10 color photo, Custom Shop certificate, and Master Builder signature and serial number decal on the back of the headstock.

Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Jeff Beck Tribute Esquire Electric Guitar Features:

  • Solid ash body
  • Bolt-on maple neck
  • Maple fretboard
  • 21 frets
  • 25-1/2" scale
  • 1.74" nut
  • Custom NoCaster Vintage Tele pickups
  • 5-position pickup switching
  • Volume/Tone/Tone controls
  • Chrome hardware
  • Gotoh tuners
  • Heavily aged lacquer finish

Andy Summers: "...this guitar sparks something in me and I have to have it."

Fender couldn't be more proud and excited to unveil a very special 250-instrument Limited Edition run of the Fender Custom Shop Andy Summers Tribute Telecaster ® tuners. It's a note-perfect replica of the 1961 Tele® that Summers used to help propel the Police to untold heights of worldwide pop superstardom.

Featuring the ferocious humbucking neck pickup and single coil bridge pickup mounted in the body rather than in the broken brass (not chrome) bridge plate; a control plate-mounted mini-toggle phase switch; body-mounted preamp on/off mini-toggle switch (the Custom Shop has recreated the Police-era preamp); the rear-mounted overdrive unit controlled by a third knob below the two traditional Telecaster volume and tone controls; "soft" brass bridge pieces and Schaller® tuners.

The prototype, built by Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Dennis Galuszka over the course of a year, is currently in use with Andy now. The guitar features the same "eccentric" modifications that the original had when Summers first bought it, most of which were unchanged throughout the nonstop work and excitement of the Police years.

Summers played number one of the 250 replicas when the Police once again electrified the music world by reuniting on Feb. 11, 2007, to open the 49th annual Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. Even more exciting, Summers will play the replica during the momentous 2007 30th anniversary worldwide Police reunion tour, one of the most hoped for and eagerly awaited events in pop music history. It promises to be a thrilling musical event featuring one of rock's most innovative guitarists playing a spot on replica of one of rock's most distinctive guitars.

Hit after hit was recorded and performed on it - "Roxanne," "So Lonely," "Walking On the Moon," the breathtaking "Message In a Bottle," "Don't Stand So Close to Me," "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic," "Every Breath You Take," "Wrapped Around Your Finger," "Synchronicity II" and "King of Pain." Every nick, scratch, dent and wear mark on Andy's guitar has been painstakingly recreated on this amazing tribute Telecaster. For Police fans, collectors, and '80s tribute bands, you just can't get much better than the Andy Summers tribute guitar.

Tone and beauty for artistic performance!

The depth and mellowness of the Gibson L-5 CES is winning acclaim for this fine jazz guitar from the most discriminating artists. The tonal quality of the acoustic guitar and the advantages of an electric are combined in one instrument. Very few carved guitars are built each year because of the scarcity of the wood required and the handcrafting involved. The building of the L-5s is overseen by Jim Hutchins, a Gibson Builder since 1963. The process has remained relatively unchanged since the 1950s, including the hand-tuning of the top and back. Guitarists sing the praises of the comfortable vintage neck; the fast, easy action; and the rich beauty of the carved spruce top. Other features on the Gibson guitar include a figured, carved maple back with solid maple rims; a pearl inlaid ebony fingerboard; and beautiful multi white-black binding. With the creation of the L-5 in the 1920s, the modern archtop guitar was invented and it has set the standard for all carved guitars that have followed. (Click on "Private Reserve" at left to see more gorgeous pics.)

A limited edition with all the original appointments just like it debuted in 58.

This 50th Anniversary reissue of the 1958 Gibson Flying V Electric Guitar is consistent with the original guitar. Features a two-piece Korina body and one-piece Korina neck. Production is limited to only 100 guitars.

The Flying V was years ahead of its time, as Gibson dealers tended to think of it as a display prop rather than a guitar to sell. It wasn't until the late 1960s that the electric guitar started to gain popularity. As guitar heroes such as Albert King, Jimi Hendrix and Lonnie Mack adopted it, the "V" quickly became symbolic of rock 'n' roll itself.

  • Neck: 1-piece korina, rounded, joint at fret 21

A limited edition with all the original appointments just like it debuted in '58.

Fifty years ago, Gibson debuted a new series of guitars referred to in the 1958 catalog as the Modernistic series. Designed by Ted McCarty, they were far enough ahead of their time that the originals languished until a later generation of players enthusiastically adopted them. Fewer than 50 original Explorer guitars were shipped during 1958, making them among the most collectible guitars ever. This special 50th Anniversary 1958 Korina Explorer Electric Guitar, featuring a one-piece korina body and neck is limited to a run of 100 guitars.

A solid korina body and stopbar bridge are the primary elements of tone and sustain for this awesome axe, which you can wield handily thanks to the Gibson Explorer Guitar's player-friendly setup. A 19th fret neck joint means you can shred all the way to the highest notes on a rosewood fretboard. A tune-o-matic bridge and mini Grover tuners keep your strings spot on in tune even when you're bending the night away. All this sound is superbly telegraphed to your amp by two ceramic magnet humbuckers.

Gibson Custom 50th Anniversary 1958 Korina Explorer Electric Guitar Features:

  • Body: one-piece korina
  • Neck: mahogany, rounded, joint at fret 19
  • Fingerboard: rosewood
  • Scale length: 24-3/4"

A rare opportunity to own the guitar of the riff lord.

In a tribute to his scorching riffs and remarkable stage presence, Gibson honors one of heavy metal's premier lead guitarists with the Zakk Wylde Signature Les Paul Electric Guitar. It features Wylde's trademark black-and-antique-white bull's-eye graphics; powerful EMG humbucking pickups (an 81 and 85); and an oiled, raw maple neck. The Les Paul body has a 1-piece mahogany back with carved maple top; an ebony fretboard with pearl block inlay; gold hardware including an engraved gold truss-rod cover with Zakk Wylde logo; multi-ply binding on top, back, neck, and peghead. A gorgeous guitar and capable of doing serious sonic damage. Gibson includes a hardshell case with the Custom Shop Zakk Wylde Les Paul Guitar.

This aged edition is an extreme rarity. One of only 50 to be made by the Gibson Custom Shop, it features every chip and dent you'd find on Zakk's legedary #1 Les Paul custom. Received as a graduation gift from his parents, the guitar was lost to him for years after being stolen. A fan discovered it in a Texas pawn shop and arranged it's return. Even the gold hardware is tarnished and pitted to look just like the original. You'll find it plays with the same power and tone as Zakk Wylde's amazing axe as well. A true collector's item.

Gibson's heartfelt tribute to a true blues master, and his most beloved instrument.

There have been few guitarists able to interpret classic blues and blues rock with the mastery and expressiveness of legend Johnny Winter. Since the late 1960s, Winter has been cranking out some of the meanest and most spellbinding slide guitar ever recorded, and performing live, he can still blast searing, gut-wrenching blues without even breaking a sweat. For decades, Winter has relied on one guitar-a 1963 Gibson Firebird V. The Gibson Custom Shop Johnny Winter Signature Firebird V is a painstaking re-creation of this iconic electric guitar down to every last detail and feature. Nothing has been overlooked on the Gibson Firebird.

Go back in time and pick one up as it appeared in '59.

The only major change to the Les Paul Standard in 1959 was the addition of wider, fatter jumbo frets which facilitated more dramatic bends. The real force of this change was not felt until the late 1960s when rock and blues players like Eric Clapton, Mike Bloomfield, and Peter Green began to discover the fat, warm voice of the '59 Standard. This moment in history marked the beginning of the idealization of the 1959 Les Paul Standard as the quintessential guitar in the minds of guitarists and collectors everywhere.

This Limited Edition features an exact duplication of the 1959 carved top, the neck pitch set to '59 specs, and a rare "aged" finish selection. You get all the benefits of a new guitar, with all the mojo of a vintage. It doesn't get much better, but you'd better hurry if you want one of your own. This guitar won't be around forever!

Using a combination of traditional hand craftsmanship and modern technology, the luthiers of the Custom Shop painstakingly reproduce the key elements that define cool, vintage instrument-stunning looks, flawless playability, and unsurpassed tone. Solid mahogany back, historically accurate long neck tenon for superior strength and sustain, period correct neck profiles, hardware and electronics, and 100% nitro-cellulose lacquer are all part of this special Gibson Custom Shop guitar.

This extremely limited edition boasts all the original features of the debut '58 Les Paul.

Here's your chance to own a landmark guitar that changed the sound of rock and blues, the 50th Anniversary 1958 Les Paul Standard. Gibson is producing only 200 of this limited edition.

Everything that made the original great is found on this special commemorative edition. The figured maple top is carved to original spec with a solid Honduran mahogany back. The neck is also one-piece mahogany with the historically correct long neck tenon for sustain. The early '50s neck profile is rounded for comfort. The rosewood fingerboard has Gibson's distinctive trapezoid inlays. Side position markers are tortoise, just as on the '58. The stop tailpiece is lightweight aluminum, and the tuners are vintage tulip style, with push-in bushings, just like the original.

This anniversary '58 employs CTS potentiometers for volume and tone, as well as the bumblebee capacitors, custom-made for Gibson to replicate the original electronics. Speaking of electronics, we can't leave out the Burstbucker pickups, custom wound to emulate the original late '50s Gibson humbuckers.

The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish material and methods as the same as was the practice in 1958. Nitrocellulose lacquer continues to evaporate insuring the thinnest possible finish that will never dampen vibrations and supports complex musical waveforms! Prized for enhancing the musical tone, you'll find a nitro finish on nearly all vintage and collectable American guitars.

The guitar's nitrocellulose finish is carefully aged by guitar guru Tom Murphy and looks like a carefully maintained 50-year-old guitar! The highly involved antiquing process is done by hand, one guitar at a time, by guitar artisan Murphy. It's not a chemical process, but a very time consuming and tedious job that includes a multitude of elaborate steps. Through much trial and error, Murphy has developed an amazing ability to re-create the checked and chipped finish of a true vintage instrument with great success. Your guitar will carry the look of a thousand smoky bar gigs, countless sessions, and maybe even a few world tours.

Each 50th anniversary Les Paul Standard is supplied with two pickguards (standard pickguard and custom 50th anniversary pickguard) as well as a special Certificate of Authenticity signifying that the guitar is one of the very limited production run.

With all that has been written over the past 50-plus years about the fabulous Gibson Les Paul 'burst, it's hard to fathom that it wasn't an immediate success. In fact, only 434 Les Paul Standards were built in 1958, and most of those were Goldtops! The first sunburst 1958 Les Paul was shipped by Gibson on May 28, 1958. Today, those 50-year-old sunburst Les Pauls are bringing in over $150K on the collector market!
