Victory Bailey has played with about everyone who's anyone, and recorded music in a broad range of styles. Sometimes that music requires the use of an acoustic-electric instrument, hence the Victor Bailey Signature Acoustic-Electric. It is a beautiful instrument with back and sides of gorgeous laminated dao, and a spruce top with a dao veneer. The thinline body style with an arched back makes it comfortable for bassists used to playing an electric. Abalone rosette and position markers, white and tortoise double body binding, tortoise neck binding, and gold tuners enhance its showtime appearance. 22-fret mahogany neck. The Fender-Fishman Classic 4 preamp features 3-band EQ plus mid sweep and delivers natural amplified tone. Pickups include a Fishman Sonicore under-saddle pickup and a blendable, body-mounted ACLR sensor.

Imagine my surprise when a muscian friend of mine stopped by with a big box for me. Inside was a Victor Bailey acustic. Holy smokes! I was flored! He knew I'd been looking for a good acustic bass, and just up and bought one for me! And what an instrument! I played it for hours that first night. So many cool features, yet not too many to distract from the perfection of the bass. When I finally plugged it in, I was amazed at the tonal qualities I could get from it. Tried it dead flat across the board and it still sounds awesome. Add some lows and highs and ohh-la-la! I did notice that when it was shipped, it was tuned a full step low. After proper tuning and a couple of days the action did suffer a bit. But a quick adjustment of the truss rod solved that problem, and it plays just a nice as (nicer) than any other bass I've owned. I love the soft texture of the mahogany neck, and the thinness makes it just a pleasure to play. I was pleasntly surprised at the projection that this bass had, given it's thin body style. I haven't had a chance to gig with it, but I feel it will fill in nicely in an acustic setting.
