I think that every guitarist should have a Digitech Jamman. It is the best practice tool. I use it to record rythem sections and then play leads over them instantly. I also use it to write and practice my solos on original tunes. The metronome is also very helpful as it can be used independently from the looper and is great for practicing scales, arpeggios and sweep picking techniques in different tempos. The Jamman can also be great for live playing. You can record the rythem as you are playing, then instantly replay the rythem and play lead over it. If using it through a guitar amp, dont change the clean channel to overdrive or it will overdrive the loop being played. You will need to play through an external pedalboard to use effects over a loop so that the loop will not be affected or altered by changing the amps channel.
